Etihad’s New Charlotte-Abu Dhabi Flight Opens the Door to the Middle East and Asia

Travelers in the U.S. will soon have a faster, more convenient way to reach Abu Dhabi and connect to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, and beyond, thanks to Etihad Airways’ new nonstop service from Charlotte, North Carolina. Tickets are now available for this major new route, which will launch on May 4, 2026.

Direct Charlotte–Abu Dhabi Route Launches in 2026

For the first time ever, Charlotte and Abu Dhabi will be directly connected by air. Etihad’s new nonstop flight departs Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) at 6:40 p.m. and arrives at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 12:25 p.m. the following day, reducing overall travel time by at least three hours compared to current connecting options.

The 13-hour, 45-minute flight will be operated on Etihad’s modern Boeing 787-9 aircraft, offering passengers an upgraded experience with inflight entertainment, Wi-Fi, power outlets, and USB charging at every seat.

What to Expect Onboard

Etihad’s Boeing 787-9 is known for its comfortable cabins and a range of amenities that cater to both leisure and business travelers. In business class, passengers enjoy lie-flat seats, lounge access, and a chauffeur service on arrival at Zayed International. Economy fares on the new route start as low as $1,092 one way, while business class fares begin at $6,014.

Tickets are on sale now via Etihad’s website and travel agents. The airline is also offering a limited-time 30% discount on premium cabin fares to select markets, including business class trips from New York to Doha and New Delhi.

Effortless Connections to Abu Dhabi and Beyond

Upon arrival in Abu Dhabi, travelers can explore the city’s world-class attractions—like Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and, coming soon, the brand-new Disney theme park on Yas Island. For those connecting onward, Etihad’s extensive network includes easy links to destinations such as Bali, Bangkok, Beijing, Melbourne, Mumbai, and Singapore.

Etihad’s new route not only makes Abu Dhabi more accessible for travelers from the Southeast U.S., but also offers a direct bridge to major business, leisure, and family destinations throughout the region.

Charlotte’s Growing International Reach

Etihad’s decision to add Charlotte to its U.S. network underscores the city’s status as a dynamic, fast-growing hub. As the only airline in its region offering this direct route, Etihad is setting Charlotte up as a new gateway for international travelers seeking both adventure and convenience.

How to Book

Travelers can secure seats on Etihad’s new Charlotte–Abu Dhabi flight by booking through the airline’s website or with their preferred travel agent. Early bookers will benefit from a wider choice of fare options and special introductory pricing.

With this launch, visiting Abu Dhabi—and connecting to dozens of cities across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East—has never been easier for travelers departing from the Southeastern United States.
